Ms. Castro

Ms. Castro first went to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, then to University of Illinois at Chicago, and finally to Northeastern University. She started teaching kindergarten at Shields Elementary then moved on to fourth grade at Brighton Park. After fourth grade, she became bilingual coordinator for several years and then went back to teach kinder for two more years. This year she is excited to be teaching second graders.

Ms. Castro feels that education is important because it helps every student become a better person. Her goal for all her students that they ALL have the chance and opportunity go to college. Ms. Castro teaches for life, and want all her students to explore their potential to learn more than what is expected.

Ms. Castro loves the kids and parents of BPES. She still keeps in touch with all her comadres and compadres that she has taught before. She loves that they come and keep her updated to what they are doing after they've left BPES.

Ms. Castro has one child, Daniel, who keeps her on her toes. She loves listening to all types of music. Ms. Castro also enjoys reading; she loves it so much that she has resorted to audio books because there's never enough time. Don't ask her for my favorite book, she has many that she loves!
