Mr. Josh Levine7/8th Math TeacherAlthough I am a Long Beach, California, native, I ventured across the country to earn my Bachelor’s degree at Adelphi University in New York. I then earned my Master’s degree in education at National Louis University here in Chicago. I've taught math in the Chicago Public School (CPS) system for the last 10 years.
As a teacher at Brighton Park, I work with students, teachers and administrators on implementing units, lessons and activities based around our school and community. I believe that effective teachers are the key to success for young students. I value teamwork and dedication. As a hands-on educator, I hope to motivate students in ascertaining their inner strengths and abilities and discovering what truly inspires them. I aim to provide a stimulating, differentiated learning environment that encourages students to trust their own opinions, while fostering confidence, in order for students to realize their full potential. I have learned that if students construct their own learning experiences they will not only retain information longer, but they will also become more confident in their abilities. While I’ve spent the last decade teaching in CPS, this is my third year at Brighton Park, a truly special school that helps me focus on what’s most important—making sure my students learn and thrive. I am passionate about math and have a strong understanding of how math works. My goal is to instill that passion and knowledge in my students. I love the team concept at Brighton Park and how everyone works hand to hand to achieve the very best for each and every student. When I’m not teaching at Brighton Park Elementary, I am a busy father of 11-year-old triplets (two girls and one boy). Personally, I enjoy playing and watching all kinds of sports. My favorite baseball team is the Dodgers (Cubs are second!) and my favorite basketball team is the Lakers. |
